The latest fashion in footwear to be hitting us is the sheepskin footwear like the type produced by Ugg boots. It’s been something that has been slowly growing since, well forever, but only now seems to have become a mass fashion thing. There are of course a lot of advantages to sheepskin shoes, especially in the winter. They look great, but their prime advantage is their amazing thermal and heat retention qualities. Wearing something like the Ugg Australia classic tall boot, your feet change from being the area of your body that gives off the most heat to being the area that retains the most instead.
We may not have seen them round much, but sheepskin boots have been around forever. Traditionally, shepherds wore them as they had an easily accessible supply of sheepskin, and they tended to live in areas that were cold. They really started to spread with the advent of flight. In the early days, aeroplanes didn’t have pressurised and oxygenated cabins, nor did they have heating and air conditioning. Temperatures for pilots in the second world war would easily reach -40 Celsius. Obviously, the pilots needed something to keep them warm, and sheepskin was found to be the best material, including for boots. After the war, the trend grew, and sheepskin boots went on to become a product that today is available globally.
For those of you who would like to keep their feet warm, whilst still looking great, check out the Ugg sale. They have some great stuff there, which is guaranteed to keep you warm through even the harshest winter.
